Series Information and Rules
Racing Age
Racing age is the date the event is held minus the racer's birth year. Another way to understand it is that whatever age you are on December 31st of the year the series is happening.
Example: Racer age is 31 years old but has a birthday in October and will turn 32. Your “racing age” is 32 (because that is how old they will be on December 31 st ).
Helmets – Always!
Helmets are required of competitors and non-competitors any time they are on their bikes.
One-Day State Championship (GCXC/Tour de Dirt)
New to Oklahoma Mtbing will be a traveling one-day State Championship. GCXC will host the 2025 State Championship at Twisted Oak MTB Festival for the Cross Country (XC) and Short Track (STXC) races. The State Championship title will be open to out-of-state racers as well. (Bring your A-game Oklahoma)
Series Number Plates
GCXC participants are required to purchase a race season number plate for scoring and timing of each race.
It will be the responsibility of the racer to bring their number plate to each race they compete in. Plates cost $20, if a number plate is lost or damaged a new number plate can be purchased for $20 (either online https://www.webscorer.com/register?raceid=379489 or onsite via a QR code). Race plates are also available as part of the race registration process at https://www.webscorer.com/GCXC.
Series Points
Series Points will be calculated for all categories.
The best 5 of the 6 races will count to determine the overall standings. Racers must compete in a minimum of 3 events to qualify for overall series awards.
Points are tallied based on each riders finish order at GCXC Races, Festival or Multi-day events will provide bonus points (see points breakdown).

Racecourses
Racecourses vary according to the geography of the area, and the amount of single track available.
Open races will last 2 hours (+/-15 min); Sport: 1.5 hours (+/-15 min) and Beginner: 1 hour (+/-15 min). Singlespeed will race with the “Open” field but compete at the Sport distance. E-Bike will race in the “Open” field and will race the same amount of laps as the “Open” racers (this is to force E-bike racers to try and govern their speed to save battery).
Please refer to each race’s informational flyer for further details on course distance. All GCXC race category distances are determined by the average time it would take the average racer in the race group to complete the race. This time is then converted into a number of laps or distances for each category and this information is posted to the public.
Roll Call
- Roll call will begin 10 minutes before the first group starts in each major wave.
- Roll call will be based on overall GCXC Series standing per category: example of 1-10 for Sport 19-44 Men will be called to the start line, and all other racers fall in behind the top ten.
*Age group/Category Starting Order will be at the discretion of each series promoter: A promoter may look at the previous races’ results and place a faster group ahead of a slower group to ensure a smoother start to the race.
Check your Results
Check your results after your race to ensure they are correct. This includes spelling and GCXC Team Challenge names. If you have a concern, please see the race director. Once a race in the series has concluded the results are considered final for the series and race results posting. Results will either be posted at the race site and/or viewed on your smart device via a QR code posted at the event. A 15-minute protest period will start after 90% of the racers have finished in a class/category.
